Heavy-gauge welded steel is what does the actual work here. A lock only matters if the box around it will not simply be pried open.

Weather Resistance

All of these are described as weather resistant and finished for wipe-clean, corrosion-resistant service. Several carry architectural paint specified for outdoor use with UV protection, which matters on a site where the box sits in full sun for months rather than in a shop. The rest use textured powder coat. If your box will live outdoors year round rather than moving in and out of a garage, the UV protected finishes are the ones to look at first.

The range runs from a low chest at 26-7/8 by 55-3/4 inches and 39-7/8 inches tall, which loads easily and fits under a bench or in a truck bed, up to full-height cabinets at 80-5/16 inches on 26-11/16 inch depths in both 36-3/8 and 60-3/8 inch widths. In between are 60-1/16 inch wide cabinets at 60-3/4 inches tall in 27-1/8 and 33-7/16 inch depths, and a 64-1/8 by 28-1/16 inch model standing 62-7/8 inches. Low boxes are easier to move and load. Tall cabinets let you hang and stand tools instead of stacking them.

Choosing a Job Box

Start with what has to fit, because long tools decide the box more than total volume does. Then think about how it gets moved and how it gets into position, since a full-height cabinet needs a different plan than a chest. Decide whether you want open interior space or organized storage, as one model here carries seven drawers for sorted tooling instead of a single cavity. Finally match the finish to the exposure the box will actually see.
