Power trowelling is the finishing stage that decides how a slab wears. Rotating blades compact and close the surface paste, producing a dense, hard finish that resists dusting and abrasion far better than a hand-floated surface. On anything beyond a small pad, doing it by hand within the available working window simply is not realistic.

Walk Behind Power Trowels

Walk behind trowels are the standard choice for driveways, garage floors, basements, shop floors, and light commercial slabs. We carry a 36 inch model on a Honda GX200 and a 46 inch model on a Honda GX270. The wider machine covers ground faster on open slabs; the 36 inch is easier to handle and manoeuvre in rooms with walls and columns to work around.

Power Edging Trowels

A full-size trowel cannot reach tight to a wall, and those perimeter strips are exactly where a slab looks unfinished if you leave them. Our 24 inch power edging trowel on a Honda GX160 handles edges, corners, and confined areas so the whole slab gets a consistent finish rather than a good middle and a rough border.

Timing Your Trowel Pass

Power trowelling happens after bleed water has left the surface and the concrete supports weight without the blades sinking in. Too early and you work water back into the surface, weakening it; too late and the surface has hardened past the point where the blades can close it. That window shifts with temperature, humidity, and mix, so it is judged on site rather than by the clock.

Choosing a Power Trowel

Match working width to your typical slab size and the obstructions in it, since a wider trowel is only faster if it can actually reach where it needs to go. If you regularly pour slabs inside walls, plan on an edging trowel alongside the main machine. Each listing states working width and engine.
