About Skid Steer Buckets

Most operators own one bucket and make it do everything, which is why so much time gets lost. Material behaves differently. Wet clay, screened topsoil, river rock, and dry snow each want a different floor, a different back height, and a different edge. Matching the bucket to the job is the cheapest productivity gain on the machine.

Dirt, Utility and Tough Tooth Buckets

Dirt buckets are the low profile standard for digging and grading, running 60 inch at .5 cubic yards up to 84 inch at .706 cubic yards, plus a 48 inch model for MT85 mini skid steers. Utility buckets carry a taller back for more volume at the same width, from 66 inch at .76 cubic yards to 102 inch at 1.122 cubic yards, which suits mulch, topsoil, and other lighter bulk material. Tough tooth buckets share the dirt bucket capacities from .5 to .706 cubic yards and add teeth along the cutting edge for breaking into hard or frozen ground.

Rock Buckets and Stump Buckets

A rock bucket trades the solid floor for spaced tines so soil sifts out and only rock, roots, and debris stay behind. We stock standard duty models in 62, 68, 75, and 82 inches with 3 inch tine spacing, heavy duty versions in the same widths with 6 inch tine spacing for larger stone, light duty 60 and 72 inch buckets for sub-compact tractors, and 42 and 54 inch buckets for Toro Dingo and MT85 mini skid steers. Tighter spacing keeps smaller rock, wider spacing passes more dirt and plugs less. A stump bucket narrows all of that down to a single point for prying stumps and roots out of the ground.

Snow, Side Flow and Light Material Buckets

Screened snow buckets run 60 through 108 inches, from .9 up to 1.69 cubic yards, with a screened back so you can still see over a full load. There is also a 60 inch tractor snow bucket at 0.37 cubic yards and a 48 inch light material and snow bucket for mini skid steers. Side flow buckets discharge out the side rather than the front, which lets you backfill a trench or lay a windrow while driving alongside it. We carry 72 and 84 inch dual side flow buckets for heavy material, and 72 and 84 inch high capacity side flow buckets with a beater bar for light material.

Firewood, Grain and Concrete Buckets

XL firewood buckets in 75, 82, and 90 inch widths are built from GR50 steel for skid steers, while standard firewood buckets in 56 through 90 inches suit sub-compact and compact tractors. Grain and fertilizer buckets hold 1.34 cubic yards at 72 inches and 1.79 cubic yards at 96 inches for farm loading. Concrete buckets come in a CH55 hydraulic discharge and a CM55 manual discharge version, each holding a half cubic yard, for placing mix where a truck cannot reach.

Capacity, Cutting Edges and Teeth

Rated capacity is a volume figure, so heavy wet material will reach your loader's weight limit long before the bucket looks full. Check the machine's rated operating capacity first, then choose width. A bucket slightly wider than your tires or tracks keeps you from driving over material you just passed. On edges, a smooth cutting edge scrapes and grades cleanly and is what you want for finish work and snow, while teeth concentrate force at the tips for digging into compacted or rocky ground.
